Tent Over

A NEW TEXTILE ART SCENE PROJECT

The starting point for the project has been the life and work of Bruce Chatwin, author and adventurer, travelling around Asia and Africa, writing mesmerising travel, known to a wider audience with "In Patagonia".

TENT OVER consists of two parts. The first part is a workshop and performance which takes place 24 hours before the opening. A pile of cloth, gaffatape, staples and tools is the starting point and the concept of creating a physical and mental home for NEW TEXTILE ART SCENE. With the nomad in the centre, the tent as a metaphor and comforting symbol in a time of change.
During the workshop we sat in front of the fireplace and told stories and let the room slowly take shape around us. The opening and the social community is when the work is inhabited. A short physical experience of the installation and the spatiality is the transience of the performance.
